Xalese, also known as Xalichu Khinkan [zäɾit͡ɕɯ k͡xiŋ.kän] ~ [zälit͡ɕɯ k͡xiŋ.kän] "Khingan Xali language", is a dialect continuum spoken primarily by Xali on Pluto. it is typically only used while underwater as Xali have marginally better hearing there. on land, the Xali tend to use their sign language Baran-Baran amongst each other. (while Xali can and often do use spoken language on land, their poor hearing makes it difficult. they can only hear low frequencies.)
it is a Khingan language, making the Ankuic languages its distant cousin. unlike Ankuese, Xalese generally has no consonant clusters.
Xalese has two main dialects: Northern and City. There is also Mountain Xalese, however most Xali in the Hillary Montes range have adopted the Ankuic language of the same name. City Ankuese is spoken in and around Natlel and the rest of Tombaugh Regio.
