Lungores [ˈluːnˌɡoɹz] (Lungorian: Lungurugu [ˌluŋguˈɾugu], sg. Lungu [ˌluŋgu]) are a species of Spirit native to the Belton Regio region of Pluto. they are humanoids somewhat similar in appearance to the Anku, even though the two races share no common ancestor. they are known for their bright purple skin and hair, alongside their notable small wings on the sides of their heads.

Lungurugu is a reduplication of the singular Lungu. however, it's clear it doesn't match up 1-to-1. this is because of a long chain of sound changes; in Proto-Lungoric, the recontructed forms are *ɬunɣu for the singular and *ɬunɣu-lunɣu for the plural. in reduplications, the second word becomes defricativized, a feature that occurs in modern Lungorian as well. the fricative [ɬ] became an approximant [l], and the old approximant became a tap [ɾ]. this new word, lungu-rungu [lun.gu ɾun.gu] eventually became modern Lungurugu. they are a naturally smart and curious race, and are very in tune to others emotions. the "wings" on their heads act somewhat like antennae or whiskers, and are able to interpret ultrasonic frequencies from others bodies to determine their feelings.
